PA 6

PA (polyamide) is an engineering plastic with excellent mechanical properties and good wear resistance. PA is also extremely tough, which makes it particularly appropriate in wear applications. One of the main disadvantages of PA is a very high water absorption, which has to be taken into account depending on the exact application.

The best-known brand name is Nylon. Different grades are available: PA 6, PA 6G, PA 6.6, PA 6.6 GF30 and more.

PA grades

  • PA 6: the standard grade, offering a good balance of mechanical strength, toughness and wear resistance for a broad range of industrial applications.
  • PA 6G (cast polyamide): produced via casting rather than extrusion, resulting in improved mechanical properties, lower internal stress and better dimensional stability. Available in larger dimensions and particularly suited for heavy-duty wear parts.
  • PA 6.6: offers slightly higher stiffness and heat resistance compared to PA 6. Well suited for applications requiring greater thermal stability.
  • PA 6.6 GF30: reinforced with 30% glass fibre for higher rigidity, strength and dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. Suitable for structural applications under sustained mechanical load.
