The use of high-performance plastics and engineering polymers is crucial in the construction of modern aeroplanes for several reasons.

First of all they are lightweight. In comparison with their metal counterparts they can be as much as ten times lighter, which means a significant increase in fuel efficiency. This is further enforced by their friction coefficient.

High-performance plastics also profit from high strength, and an excellent chemical resistance, two important characteristics for the harsh environments (elevated temperatures, corrosive fuels, etc.) to which aeroplane components are exposed.

Vanéflon has nearly fifty years of experience in the production of high-performance plastics and engineering polymers such as PEEK, Polyimide, PCTFE and PTFE, plastics often encountered in aeroplanes. In addition, Vanéflon has specialised and specific PTFE compounds typically used in this industry.
